With gritty vocals over rock riffs and horns, The Commonheart delivers an emotion-packed, soulful sound that lights up any stage. The latest Beard-o-Bees release, Imperfect Grid, is built upon melodies, bass lines, and sounds crafted using Miller’s analog synthesizer collection, and is meticulously edited to create dance-oriented electronic music. Using several LED grid controllers, his own custom-designed software, Moog synths, and a melodica, he plays parts and builds beats in real time, manipulating and mixing sounds for a truly unique electronic performance of original music and remixes. Jesse Miller, bassist/composer for Lotus, takes “button pushing” to a whole new level as Beard-o-Bees. Performing both standard DJ sets and live sets that incorporate guitar and keys along with guest drummers, percussionists, and saxophonists, Luke the Knife has been packing shows in his home state of Colorado, as well as numerous places across the country. In the Fall of 2012, Luke started working on remixing and re-editing tracks, and by the end of December, Luke the Knife was born. The idea was to bring funk and disco back to the dance floor. The tightly produced yet raw grooves recall sounds of The Talking Heads, Jamiroquai, and LCD Soundsystem.Īfter nearly 10 years of composing and playing guitar and keyboards for the band Lotus, Luke Miller turns his musical skills and experience towards the DJ booth. The tracks bubble with contagious dance energy and blast into orbit with sing-along choruses. Guest singers appear throughout, ranging from soulful to indie, and electronic to rock. The band’s new album, Eat the Light, is a first for Lotus – an album with vocals on every song. Whether you catch Lotus in outdoor amphitheaters, the country’s best theaters, intimate clubs, or a variety of festivals, you can expect to have an experience of the senses. Having built a massive fanbase over the years, Lotus tours heavily, selling out headline shows across the country, and playing festivals such as Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Ultra, and more.
